Yomi Kastro – Managing Partner
Yomi Kastro is the founder and CEO of Inventures. He programmed his first software at the age of 11 and has dedicated himself to information technologies and internet ventures ever since.
In 2006 he founded Inveon to develop web based software solutions and e-commerce infrastructures for corporates in addition to creating internet ventures requiring advanced technology. Inveon was selected as one of the most successful startup companies in 2008 by Endeavor.
Kastro founded Inventures in 2009 as an accelerator to provide technology, investment and business development support to promising internet ventures. He is the co-founder and/or investor of more than 10 successful internet ventures including 1V1Y, Trendyol, Ideasoft, Blesh, Supplementler and Bulucak.com.
He was selected as the “Most Successful Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2009” by JCI. Kastro’s articles on Internet Technologies, machine learning and software engineering were published in numerous academic journals.
Completing his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in in Computer Engineering at Bogaziçi University recognized with a high honor’s degree, Kastro advanced his academic career by completing the Harvard Business School (HBS) Private Equity and Venture Capital Program.
Yomi Kastro is a board member and co-founder of Turkish Entrepreneurship Foundation and he mentors students of Bogaziçi University. In his spare time, he likes to travel and explore different countries on his motorcycle, solve brainteasers and listen to New Age music.
Emir Alkaş – Partner
Emir Alkaş graduated from Boğaziçi University with honors degree in Computer Engineering. In his senior year, he started working as basketball coach in Efes Pilsen Sports Club. Alkaş, who has served for different teams in Efes Pilsen for 8 years, was the assistant coach in last 4 years. He is now working in Galatasaray Cafe Crown as assistant coach. His area of expertise is analyzing the opposing team. Emir Alkaş thinks his engineering skills has a unique harmony with analytics of basketball. He finished his master degree in Boğaziçi University Biomedical Engineering Institute.
In his free time apart from basketball and Inveon, he deals with racehorse breeding and racing which is also a family tradition. Emir Alkaş has a deep enthusiasm in superhuman nature of horses and in future he wants to take his horse breeding figure to the next levels.
For more than 15 years he has had a disciplined interest in mind games. He is also a member of Zeka Oyunları magazine and he is proud that he took part in competition for Turkish Brain Team twice – although he was eliminated.
Moris Kastro – Business Development
Moris Kastro was born in Izmir and moved to Istanbul to study at Bogazici University. He graduated from the Physics Department with an honor’s degree majoring in Computational Physics. Following graduation, his start-up experience during university years led him to start his career at Endeavor, which is a non profit organization dedicated to selecting, mentoring and accelerating high impact entrepreneurs around the world.
After almost 2 years at Endeavor he pursued his career at Google, Dublin which is the EMEA headquarter of the technology giant. During his time at Google, Moris worked in both Search Quality and Ads Traffic teams and was responsible for protecting users from abuse by means of different pattern recognition techniques. Throughout this time, he was invited to a number of international conferences to share his know-how and expertise on this topic.
Besides his professional activities, Moris is a big fan of NBA, Sherlock Holmes and creating brainteasers.
Onur Turna – Venture Associate
Onur graduated form from Bilkent University with honors degree in Industrial Engineering. In order to gain in-depth experience in strategy formation, marketing and finance he completed the MBA program at Bilkent University. Following his MBA, he took a post-grad Finance program at UC Berkeley.
After graduation, he joined an innovative solar e-commerce startup, CivicSolar, in San Francisco as one of the earliest employees. In his role as program manager at CivicSolar he worked closely with operations and development teams in order to improve the early stage business by designing various features to increase the efficiency of operations, customer engagement and customer satisfaction.
At Inventures, he is responsible for market analysis, market-company due diligence, search and selection of new investment candidates, portfolio analysis and reporting, and supporting portfolio companies with digital strategy, marketing and reporting.
Currently Onur is also pursuing PhD Degree in Finance, where he works on financial valuation applications and models. In his free time apart from Inventures and academia, he enjoys investing in equity and foreign exchange markets, fitness, football, basketball and swimming.
